DESIGNING A NEW ART DE VIVRE

About Saguez & Dash

As French designers, Saguez brings art de vivre to its work, i.e. a multifaceted attitude rather than merely a creative expression. We believe that, by defining a powerful brand narrative, we can create evocative environments that deliver memorable experiences.

As American designers, Dash believes today’s built environments must deliver human-centered, multi-sensory, immersive experiences that attract, engage and enhance our lives. Our design expertise creates brand value, delights people, and provides a positive ROI.

Together, our partnership brings compelling international expertise in brand-led strategy and design to owners, developers and operators in the North American market. Our award-winning work provides our clients deep, local market understanding with an international perspective, and an innovative, trans-disciplinary approach to the lifestyle and luxury segments—the perfect intersection where bespoke narratives and art de vivre thrive to deliver unparalleled results in hospitality, luxury, workplace, F&B, and retail.

S&P imagined the new head office of the BCG, at 75 Avenue de la Grande Armée in Paris. Built in 1964 by architects and brothers Louis, Luc and Thierry Sainsaulieu, the building stands apart from the Haussmannian architecture and has been described as one of “the best French examples of the modern movement.”

Testimony to the great years of French engineering, the site housed the PSA Peugeot-Citroën headquarters until 2017. At 361-feet long and 30-feet high, the building volumes are off the charts. The great gallery has been reconfigured into an active ground floor that is open to all, where several services are grouped together. The Business Center centralizes a 180-seat auditorium, two sports halls, a music room, a concierge, an IT bar, a medical office and two travel lounges.

Closed individual offices can be quickly and easily converted into a meeting or workshop room for 2 to 4 people, for 15 minutes or an hour. In short, everything here is movable, modular, interchangeable and designed to promote productivity and collaboration. Credit: ©Eric Laignel.

In 2023, we won the Interior Design BOY award, in New York, with Boston Consulting Group in « Extra Large Corporate Office » category.

Magic rat live music
Bar Design in Fort Collins, Colorado

Fort Collins is increasingly recognized as a music destination and Magic Rat, at The Elizabeth Hotel, a live music bar/lounge that is intimate and offers one-of-a-kind performances.

Walk beyond the oversized green leather tufted pocket doors that harken back to the heyday of glamorous theatres, the space beckons guests with a large fireplace with vibrant green glazed tiles, and an intimate wood stage that is centrally located. A plush mix of seating dispersed throughout, from Art Deco inspired lounge chairs, serpentine yellow banquettes, to wood backed-leather sofas create intimate nooks for date night and friends-style gatherings. The offbeat, neighborhood bar vibe is in complete contrast to what guests expect out of their typical hotel “lobby bar”, a welcoming treat for locals as well. Kimpton St-Honoré
Hotel & Restaurant Design, Paris

An exceptional building recognized, in part, for its art nouveau-inspired facade, the new Kimpton St. Honoré has dedicated amenity spaces below the hotel. Curved and organic shapes abound. Natural solid stones, wood, brass, iridescent hues, velvet materials, and mosaics all work in tandem to echo to the art nouveau thematic. With a little over 6,000 sf, the Ballroom is designed to accommodate a multitude and has an acoustic envelope to contrast the hustle and bustle of the street. A business center, where meetings rooms pay tribute to famous icons such as Coco Chanel, Le Corbusier or Eileen Gray. A highlight of Kimpton’s St. Honoré’s amenities includes a 3,700 sf spa that has an infinity pool and a hammam decorated with mosaics, all created to ensure complete relaxation. Hotel Design in Washington, D.C.

In order to bring the hotel to life, we opted to create subtext that was a little less obvious and not at all the typical Washington kitsch. We wanted to celebrate American Modernism which is obvious by the building exterior and pulled through the interiors by the choice of furnishings and accessories. In addition, art and artifacts were specifically designed to bring to life another not so well known story about DC which is that it established one of the earliest bike share systems. Clever nods to this are found throughout the property. Credit: Photography by John Muggenborg.

The Enchantment of the Ritz Bar
Bar Design, Paris

Inspired by the globally renowned parties organized by legendary hotelier César Ritz, the Ritz Bar reinterprets the spirit of the « Belle Époque » through innovation, fantasy, and the magic of the divinatory arts. An intimate and magical location nestled in the heart of the legendary hotel, the Ritz Bar is where mixology is an ethereal, dreamlike, and sensorial experience. The circular bar is crowned with a monumental lantern that greets visitors from all parts of the world. Like an extraordinary machine straight out of Jules Verne’s books, the star of the space is the indeed the magic lantern. At 5.30 everyday, the giant brass lampshade elevates and reveals and illuminate images of the zodiac signs and constellations onto the ceiling of the bar area all while accompanied by music courtesy of a well-known French duo. One 11 hotel
New Orleans, LA

The design throughout the One11 Hotel consistently pays homage to the industrial history of the building itself, and purposefully engages its well-traveled guests with a ‘new’ New Orleans, stretched well beyond the boundaries of Bourbon Street.  One11 was designed to be a welcoming and intimate oasis from the hustle and bustle, where the polish of today effortlessly coexists with the decadently layered past.

The building’s former life remains front and center in the design.  Retaining inherited architectural elements of the 19th century that hint at the property’s former life was paramount to the authenticity of and inspiration for the design, but which also dictated that everything else that was layered into the hotel must be new and ‘of today’, purposefully modern and simplistic. Emporium kitchen & wine market
Restaurant Design Fort Collins, CO

This unique and emerging brand owned by Sage Restaurant Group, was created to provide a familiar and inclusive sense of place that would not only appeal to The Elizabeth Hotel guests’ and locals alike. The style-busting concept is both a retail market as well as an American-brasserie style restaurant with a heavy focus on wine and highlights the community and its local entrepreneur offering.

Guests can get anything from a go-to-coffee at Bowerbird, or a quick lunch in the market’s eclectic lounge, or have a celebratory dinner in the main dining room at the restaurant. Creating a small-town feel that reflects and showcases Fort Collin’s vibrant character was critical in the design of the space. Credit: Photography by Daryl Love and Andrew Bordwin.
